Panggang Island Declares Open Defecation Free Movement

The open defecation free (ODF) movement was arbitrarily declared in Panggang Island Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district, Thousand Islands, on Wednesday (5/26).

This declaration affirms Panggang Island has been free from open defecation

Panggang Island Urban Village Acting Head, Iskandar said ODF declaration was part of efforts to achieve sanitation and a healthy environment.

"This declaration affirms Panggang Island has been free from open defecation since the existence of public toilets are available. So, there have been no more floating or helicopter toilets since last year," he expressed.

S. Jakarta Declares ODF in Two Urban Villages

According to him, it was done to help the regency in meeting one of the requirements for the Healthy City/Regency 2021 competition, which would be verified at the end of May by the ministries of Home and Health.

"It is also to follow up the results of the internal verification evaluation between the regency and city administration. Hopefully we can win the competition," he stated.
